Case Number: 23SC188947
Judge: Scott McAfee
Court: Superior Court, Fulton County, Georgia
Plaintiff's Attorney: Fulton County District Attorney's Office
Defendant's Attorney: Steve Sadow, for Trump, Jim Durham, for Meadows.
Description: Atlanta, Georgia criminal defense lawyers are represented the Defendants charged with election interference in the 2020 President Election in Georgia.
A Fulton County grand jury indicted former President Donald Trump and 18 others in a case related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. Georgia’s RICO law is the foundation of the 41-count indictment, in which D.A. Fani Willis alleges the defendants conspired to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump.
Outcome: Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee quashed six counts in the indictment, including three against Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee. But the judge left in place other counts — including 10 facing Trump — and said prosecutors could seek a new indictment to try to reinstate the ones he dismissed.
Of the 19 people originally charged in the indictment, four have pleaded guilty after reaching deals with prosecutors. They include prominent Trump allies and attorneys Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro.
The State of Georgia has six months to refile the charges.
