Description: Idabel, OK - The State of Oklahoma charged Ernest Alvin Lewis, age 66, with murder in the first-degree for killing Johnny Smith in 1984.

The State relied on DNA evidence to prove that Lewis was the killer.

Lewis and Smith were both employees of K.C.S. Lumber in Idabel, Oklahoma.

Lewis was charged with the murder in 1984 but the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.

Smith's body was exhumed to collect the DNA evidence used to convict Lewis.
